Facebook Questions?

What looks like a late addition may turn out to be the thing that ties all Facebook's data together.

Facebook Questions lets you ask any question and get quick answers from your friends and other people on Facebook. It doesn't require a whole lot of imagination to see how this addition could turn out to be something big. So, we will show you how to set up questions on your fanpage (or profile), then on page two answer some basic questions that Facebook would like you to consider.

Sign In To Your Facebook Page

Go to the “Account” tab at the upper-right side of your Facebook account and click “Use Facebook as Page.” Click “Switch” next to the page you’d like to be signed into (this should be the page you want to add Questions to)

Go To Facebook’s Questions Page

Go to Facebook’s Questions page (http://www.facebook.com/questions), which not only outlines the product, but is also where you add Questions to your Page. Once you’re there, click on the bright green button that says, “Get Questions Now.”

The action will apply to the Page you’re logged in as, so if you’d like to add Questions to multiple Pages, repeat step one and two for the specific Page in question.

Ask Your First Question

After you’ve clicked “Get Questions Now,” a pop-up box will open confirming that Questions have been added to your Page. You’ll now see the Questions tab on your Facebook Page and you’re ready to ask your first question. You can add poll options and the ability for your fans and others to add other answers. The question will post to your wall as well as the News Feed of users who have “liked” your Page.

How do I ask a question through Facebook Questions?

You can ask a question from a few different places:

From your profile: At the top of the page, next to where you would normally share a status update, select the "Question" link. Then enter your question and add poll options if you wish. Click "Ask Question" to share it.

From your home page: At the top of your News Feed, next to where you would normally share a status update, select the "Question" link. Then enter your question and add poll options if you wish. Click "Ask Question" to share it.

From your Questions page: Click "Question" next to "Share" at the top of the page. Then enter your question and add poll options if you wish. Click "Ask Question" to share it.

What kind of questions can I ask?

You can ask any type of question, but Questions was designed to help you get fast, short-form responses. For example, you can use Questions to get recommendations from your friends (What are your favorite iPhone apps?), learn more about the people around you (What was your favorite movie as a child?) or start discussion about current events (How can I help the earthquake victims in Japan?).

Anyone on Facebook may participate in a question you ask but answers are always filtered to show you responses from friends first, so even if many people have responded you will always see what your friends have said first. You can access the responses from everyone else by clicking "Others" within the "Posts" section of the question.

Where can I find the list of all questions I've asked and answers I've given?

You can access your Questions activity by clicking on the Questions link on the left side of your profile. Here you and others can view questions you have asked, responded to or followed through the links on the upper right.

You can also view a feed of your Questions activity and your friends’ Questions activity by clicking on the Questions link on the left side of your home page.

Why follow a question?

Following a question means you’re subscribing to receive notifications when the question is answered by your friends. To follow a question, click "Follow" in the upper right of the question box. When you follow a question it will also be shared with your friends through the News Feed and it will appear in the "Followed Questions" section of your profile.
